Current Addictions

Not much exciting has been happening in our world recently.  Just working away.  Going to bootcamp.  Playing hockey.

I did go paint pottery with my wonderful SIL earlier this month.  I made a clock for our bedroom and she made a couple gorgeous mugs from the same special paint.

I'm currently addicted to this amazing trail mix.

And to herbal tea (though not entirely by choice!) since I'm off caffeine for a couple weeks to see if my sleep improves.  At least I have cool mugs at work to drink from!!

Blast from my Past

Last year I went through all of my old school stuff at my parents' house and managed to only take one small shopping bag home.  It felt awesome to purge a lot but I still couldn't say goodbye to everything.  Now months later I've finally been able to take pictures of these favourites and then dispose of them.  I've realized I put a crazy amount of work into school.

Here's part of a brochure I made for French class in grade 5 I think.

This was for a science project in grade 9 and I absolutely love the layout of the circles!

A couple pages from a grade 8 "The Disappearing Rainforest" book.  Good thing I didn't become an artist!!

A page from my "Tower of Terror" story published in grade 5.

A page from a magazine about China I also did in grade 5.  It even had ads!

My poetry anthology from junior high school I think.  The coolest part of this project was that my mom made one very similar when she was in grade school.

My favourite page from the "collected" section.  Best oldie song ever!

My favourite page from the "written" section.  I wrote this poem with a couple of my cousins.

This was a huge social studies project about Canada we did in grade 10.  My partner and I got 100%!

But looking back on it, we really shouldn't have.  Apparently Canada has two Nunavut territories but somehow no Yukon??  I guess our teacher was so enamoured by all the pictures and neat facts he missed that little detail!

Calgary's page!

The big map at the end.  We were serious overachievers!!!

2012 Holidays

We started the holiday season by attending THREE work Christmas parties!  Because Leif just switched careers he was lucky enough to be invited to both his old and new companies' parties.  I only got a picture of us at one party.  Too bad because I wore three different dresses!!

We spent Christmas at my parents' timeshare near Canmore.  Leif and his sister both have birthdays right before Christmas so we celebrated with a torte! :)

Poor boy was a little grumpy, but still so cute!

The worst Rook hand ever!

Leif playing a game that Joel made on his new laptop!

The annual and epic risk game.

Having some fun with my hubby!

We spent New Year's with all of Leif's family but for some unknown reason I didn't take any pictures!!!  I guess I was too busy having fun playing games, eating awesome food, and doing a puzzle.  Leif had a lot of fun playing outside and fixing the snowmobile more than once!

These are some pictures taken with our brand new camera!!  Some of Leif's birthday and holiday gifts: lego, computer case, and t-shirts.

Some of my lovely holiday gifts: loose leaf tea, bodum air filled glasses, and a mug that changes colour with heat!

I also spent a lot of time over the holidays working on my latest cross-stitch project. I can't wait for it to be done!

The Rest of 2012 (minus Xmas)

At the end of November I was lucky enough to go out with the girls for a fancy steak dinner and a Celtic Thunder concert.  It was amazing!  I will be purchasing some of their music very soon!

As usual, we spent many evenings watching hockey.  Here's a Hitmen game.

Watching Uncle Leif play hockey.

A Canadian women's game.

And the World Junior red vs white game.  That place was a madhouse!!

We've had some wheatgrass seeds sitting in our kitchen drawer for a long time and we decided to start a pot of them.  First step was soaking the seeds.

Laying down a layer of seeds.

Covering them with soil.

And just one week later it's growing great guns!

All ready to go in my yummy spinach and fruit smoothie.

The girls and I also spent another Saturday painting pottery.  Most of us made Christmas gifts.  Here are some of my creative friends' masterpieces.

For my family's secret santa gift exchange, I got my sister.  She loves animal prints (which I think is more than a little crazy!) so I made her a cheetah print flower pot and a zebra print travel mug.  To be honest, I actually really like how the mug turned out!!
