December and the Holidays

Leif celebrated his birthday in December and he was pretty excited about getting a fitbit!

For his first birthday after we started dating, I made him a carrot cake. And finally for the ninth birthday since we've been together, he got one again!

We've had a really mild winter and Piper has thoroughly enjoyed our trips to the park.

My closest childhood friend surprised me with this gift. One of the most thoughtful gifts I've ever received. Purple owls!

We spent Christmas out in the mountains with my family. Yet again, we can't go anywhere without this jolly jumper!

Hawaiian Holiday

In December, we took Piper on her first plane ride to the best vacation place we could think of - Hawaii! This was at the beginning of the flight on the way there. Flying with a baby is not the most fun thing we've ever done...

But it was worth it for this! Her first dip was in the pool with a beach on one end (a little calmer than the ocean). She wasn't too sure of the water at the beginning.

When her dad started swinging her around, her face changed quite dramatically!

This girl knows how to relax!

We can't go anywhere without this entertainment tool.

You can take the girl away from work, but you can't take the nerd out of the girl. :)

Piper HATES cuddling. We're talking pushing away and screaming as soon as she's facing in and even remotely close. This grandpa had some magic powers with a tired girl one afternoon.

Getting woken up early every morning paid off the last day with this cotton candy sunrise. 'Til next time paradise!

This month we ventured into the realm of solids. Piper really didn't get it at first...

We've had some very nice late fall days and took advantage of that to give Piper her first swing ride. Smiles all around!

We also did some other exciting things this month! I made Piper a quiet toy from some left over yarn.

I got to spend some time at Starbucks reading my concrete code. :)

Went curling with my work.

Baked a delicious pumpkin cake.

Went to a live music evening part of Jazz Festival.

And went to my Christmas party. They had a caricature artist there who did this on his phone!
